..I thought that would be a nice intro to my latest blog. If anyone can tell me where that title is from you can have a free single (Deal Of The Century or what!)

Ok, when we last spoke I was talking about 1972...

After becoming a total hippy in London (where I had my first 'trip' at the Bath Festival and missed just about every band - The Who, Floyd, etc., etc. because I was too busy walking in the clouds) I decided to go my old boarding school pals in Germany. Enter Colin Orr who came from England after blindly putting a pin on the map of the world (!) and Janus was formed. We made a very stoned demo, which had me playing flute (which I don't play, then or now) and EMI Germany gave us a record deal on their Harvest label: the label that featured every progressive band around. We made 'Gravedigger' (you know by now that every track can be heard on You Tube, plus the bonus tracks later included on the cd version) and the single 'I'm Moving On/ I Don't Believe You'. I Don't Believe You came about after Colin heard ' She Fly's On Strange Wings'  from Golden Earring. He said ' Pffft, I can play a better solo than that!'  He did and the song was build around it. Hippy's, ego's? Ha.

Anyway, we went to live in Holland on a holiday camp in Reuver, Limburg and stayed there for a year on the costs of the record company...not like that anymore, is it :-)? The trouble was that people kept giving us drugs and when the management came to our bungalow one day (having to cut their way through the hash fog) and asked us if we wanted to support Pink Floyd in Berlin we said.......NO! 'Uh, no, not now, man. Too many things to do, man. Maybe next time, man.' is sort of what our reply was. Up until today Colin and I kick ourselves. Things would have gone very differently if we had said yes, don't you think? So there you are. When you have it all and you have the chance to play with Floyd, or today, The Foo Fighters for example, do not say no. Never say no.

I am now so traumatized again that I'm going to leave you but don't worry, I will be back and I wish you well.
